Tonight in the NBA: Mavs try to end skid vs. Heat

The Sixers take on the Raptors tonight (see game notes). Here are a few other NBA games to keep an eye on:

2017-11-11

Heat at Mavericks, 7:30 p.m.
Dirk Nowitzki's performance in Dallas' latest win had coach Rick Carlisle gushing, and the Mavericks' star is on the verge of moving up another rung on the NBA's scoring list.

While Nowitzki has performed well in recent games against the Miami Heat, it hasn't been enough for the Mavericks to earn their first win in the series since the 2011 NBA finals clincher.

With LeBron James having departed Miami, the Mavericks will try to end their six-game skid to the Heat and earn their fifth victory in six contests Sunday night (see full preview).

Kings at Thunder, 7 p.m.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have managed to be competitive in all but one of their games despite injuries to stars Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, as well as other personnel losses that have left them with only eight available players most nights.

Wins haven't been easy to come by, however, and that may continue to be the case Sunday night when they host the Sacramento Kings - one of the hottest teams in the NBA.

The Thunder (1-5) rank at the bottom of the NBA with 90.5 points per game, a far cry from the 106.2 they averaged last season (see full preview).

Hornets at Lakers, 9:30 p.m.
Having four days off between games has given the Los Angeles Lakers a badly needed chance to regroup and prepare themselves to end the franchise's worst start in 57 years.

The Lakers again try for their first victory Sunday night against the visiting Charlotte Hornets.
Kobe Bryant was obviously frustrated Tuesday after scoring 39 points in a 112-106 home loss to Phoenix, but he also tried sending a message of hope to his teammates
